About the Program

Housed in the Department of Linguistics at Brigham Young University, the editing and publishing major prepares students for vigorous careers in the print industry. The program is ideal for students who love well-written communication and have keen attention to detail.

Students learn the foundations of grammar, style, and editorial judgment in close-knit classes. This major offers students various opportunities to work on student-run publications and gain experience in internships with industry professionals.

A bachelor’s in editing and publishing is a unique program that few universities offer. Whether pursuing traditional book publishing, digital media, or technical editing, these graduates are equipped to edit magazines and manuscripts (and anything in between).
